9 hour day today. Yay! This was after our boss told us to expect a 12 hour day this morning. Which is quite pleasant.

What's not pleasant:
Spending 15 minutes trying to get your car to move the 10 feet from where you park to the street.
Opening your door to find the Christmas tree is no longer upright.

In other news, Christmas cards have been sent out today! So if you don't recieve one in a few days, you either a) didn't ask for one or b) live too far away for the card to get there fast enough. Move closer.

....Except Maki, who I just realized I totally missed because I forgot to write down the address. I'M SORRY, MAKI, I'LL GET ONE OUT D:

Mel, I got yours today, beautiful photo as always, but the envelope glue stuck to it and pretty much ruined it :(

• Posted stories will display the author name to the author as "Anonymous (username)." This is how it should be! It indicates that your story is still nicely hidden.

The deadline is tonight, 9p Eastern US time! The archive will close temporarily at roughly that time, until we have figured out who needs pinch hits and who hasn't yet uploaded a story.

With the nifty options available on AO3, Yuletide Madness 2009 will be its own sub-collection of Yuletide! (not currently open for uploads)

Once everyone has a full-length story (1000+ words) in Yuletide 2009, Yuletide Madness 2009 will open for drabbles and shorts and stories of any size of less than 1000 words, probably sometime on the 23rd or 24th.

Better yet, uploading to Yuletide Madness 2009 will be open to anyone who has an AO3 account! Although we can't provide invites through Yuletide, you can add your name to the Invitation Queue, and AO3 will email you an invitation on a first-come, first-served basis. If you request it now, you should have it in plenty of time for Yuletide Madness! \o/

This is a new thing for Yuletide. We've had requests that we allow non-Yuletiders since Yuletide Madness started, but it was never practical on the old system, for various reasons. Start speculating now what this means for the total number of 2009 Yuletide stories! *g*

We've discovered that another bug is leaving draft info visible on Gift pages. This means that if you have a story in your AO3 drafts, the author/title/tagging info is visible on your recipien'ts Gift page.

What you can do:

1) DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR GIFTS PAGE unless you want to be fully spoiled for everything but the actual story.

2) PLEASE CLEAN UP ANY DRAFTS YOU HAVE LYING AROUND. Some people have drafts left for stories they've uploaded; these should be deleted. If you have a story in draft you haven't uploaded, you will probably want to go ahead and upload, and then you can edit it, if necessary.

The coders are working on this and will get a fix in as soon as they can. *pets poor exhausted coders*

I wanted to make an official THANK YOU to the folks who serve as beta-finding hippos in the #yulechat IRC channel. I just proxied a beta request for someone that couldn't get into chat, which I passed on to a hippo, who found a beta and got them in touch with the author. \o/

I think it's entirely due to them (and the folks who volunteered to beta on the yuletide post) that I've had very few beta requests this year, and half of those had gone looking in #yuletide first. It's an incredibly helpful service they've developed, and a truly wonderful system!

One of the greatest things about Yuletide is how so many people go above and beyond to make it better and better, every year. Thank you all so much. And our thanks to everyone who has thanked us, and said lovely things, even if I don't always find time to thank you individually.

summary: Basically rehashed Axel's death scene, referencing lines from Casa Blanca because Axel is a romantic and that's a romantics movie. Its 2 am and I'm tired but I just finished watching that movie and this is more for my own personal enjoyment.

( At the moment,in retrospect, he considered his final act pretty damn romantic, and maybe that showed how demented a being, or non being, could become if given too much exposure to the various toxic members of the Organization. )

IRL, what's important:  I'm currently wearing a comfy and positively FUG-ASS sweater with awful beadwork and Christmas-themed felt teapots stitched on with some glittery threadwork to boot.  Cost me a pretty penny at Ragstock, (they're charging some outrageous prices for their ugly holiday sweaters, but damn are they fantastically ugly!  I was really tempted to get the sequined nutcrackers with golden grillz, but the teapots seemed more appropriate)  While there I couldn't resist picking up some ironic clearance t-shirts, so I guess I'm officially a hipster now.
